Confusion

Kind of funny...I tried logging on to blogspot.com a few minutes ago and everything came up in Chinese! Needless to say, that wasn't going to get me anywhere. Luckily of course second time was a charm...wow, two weeks left. i must say that this photography seminar was much better than a regular freshman seminar would have been. The videos were nice and having speakers come in was also a great change to keep things interesting! Thanks Professor

TUESDAYS

Ok so I've been bad... it seems I never remember Tuesdays until Wednesday and that does me no good for this assignment. I suppose I only have three or four more Tuesdays to remember and then the semester will be over and after that I will probably remember Tues on Tues:)

End of semester

It seems like we just started this semester a couple of weeks ago, I can't believe it's more than half way over! So much more to learn in so little time. I do like the guest speakers that have come in so far, each has a different insight from different experiences all with different areas of expertise. It would be nice if all areas of school had guest speakers so you could get pointers along the way.

Reaction Paper

We have now had two professional photographers lecture to the class and I have interviewed one myself, it seems that they're all in agreement in that the most important thing is to be extremely dedicated, getting yourself known and making photography your life. It doesn't seem as important to have gone to a well known school or graduate school. They all gave a lot of great tips and inspiration while at the same time saying it wasn't easy and that you don't become a great photographer over night. It takes a lot of time, years of experience and doing many different jobs maybe even outside of what you thought you wanted to photograph.

All in all I think they were all great experiences, each having their own specific quality. It was interesting to be able to see the inside of a commercial photography studio. It's amazing to see all the computers, equipment and different set ups, makes you wonder how much everything cost. Obviously becoming an apprentice is very helpful in making connections and establishing a career. Janele had great insight in offering tips on making a professional website and making sure that you know your self worth and charge for it.

Weekend!

Well the weekend is FINALLY here. This has to have been one of the longest weeks ever. It's a little chilly but I don't care at least I only have to work for 3 hours this whole weekend! Posting my blog early so I don't forget on Tues. Yankees are playing tonight so Buffalo Wild Wings here we come!

MET

Went into the MET this past weekend to check out the Robert Frank exhibit. Some of the photos I really enjoyed and others had a bit of sarcasm or dark humor, which I guess is part of expressing yourself through photography. I personally would rather take photos of things that don't depress me, unless it's for a cause and then that's a completely different story. All in all it was a good day but I definitely like Modern Art better

Photography

Photography has always been a love of mine and it seems that now that I've put my mind to actually doing something with it I have no time. Figures. I guess it just comes down to making time and figuring out a way of fitting everything in. Since this is my first semester at this I suppose I have a little time to get it all together.
